Frequently asked questions.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle energy healing practice believed by many to have originated in Japan. Central to the practice is the concept of universal life force energy, understood as the energy that makes up the entire universe. During a Reiki session, I act as a channel for that energy and direct its flow as I work.

What can I expect during a Reiki session?

Each session is 90 minutes and begins with time to talk about what brings you in and anything you would like support with. From there, you’ll get comfortable on the treatment table (or at home) for the Reiki portion of the session, which is generally about an hour.

Reiki may be offered with light touch or with hands held just above the body. Depending on what we are working with and what I notice in your energy field, I may also incorporate crystals or other supportive tools into the Reiki session.

Afterward, we’ll leave time to talk about your experience, anything I noticed during the session and anything that may be helpful for you to take with you.

Do I need to be spiritual or believe in energy healing for it to work?

Not at all. You don’t need a particular spiritual practice or belief system to receive Reiki or energy healing. You can simply come with an open mind and allow yourself to experience the session in whatever way feels natural to you.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

For virtual appointments, there’s no need to do anything special—just find a quiet, comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed. You’re welcome to bring tea, a journal, or anything that helps you feel relaxed and supported.

If we are working together in person, I recommend wearing something comfortable and giving yourself some extra space before and after your session.
